Counselling in
Bristol
Hello
If you have found your way here, chances are you are looking for support, have questions you would like to explore, feelings you need to have witnessed or challenging thoughts you want to express.
Perhaps you are feeling stuck and looking for some guidance and direction. Perhaps you want to be listened to, simply have a break and to see what arises when someone else holds space for you.
Whatever your reason, you have arrived at the right place.
About Counselling
Counselling is a form of talking therapy in which two people meet, usually weekly, to explore whatever is troubling the client. We will first meet to discuss your reasons for coming to counselling and any therapeutic goals you may have. Our work can either be short-term or open-ended depending on your needs, which can be discussed in our first session.
I am trained in a Humanistic Integrative modality. This means that I am led by you with regards to the topics we discuss and the pace at which we work. I endeavour to empower, give you agency and am able to integrate different therapeutic theories and approaches to best suit you as an individual. I believe that you are the expert in your own experience and see us as two humans sitting across from each other, rather than me as expert and you as patient.
Whether you would like to process a particular event, explore difficult feelings, practice connecting with your physical body, or delve deeper into your psychology and increase your self-awareness, all of you is welcome in the therapy room.
About me
My approach is warm, empathic and collaborative. My aim is to create a holding environment in which you can safely explore whatever you choose to bring.
My work is informed by my yoga practice which has taught me that our emotional experiences are often stored in the body and shown me how movement can support us to process these. I can guide you to use mindfulness and somatic techniques to connect with what is being held in your body.
While working as a therapist, I have supported clients exploring issues such as trauma, bereavement, sexual assault, gender and sexual identity, relationship issues, depression and anxiety. I have a particular interest in working with trauma as well as questions around identity and belonging. As a migrant myself, I am passionate about working with others with migrant heritage as well as those involved in activism, direct action and system change. However, I welcome humans of all backgrounds in my practice. If you feel drawn to reach out, whatever your reason, then I would love to hear from you.
Alongside my therapeutic training, I have worked in the refugee sector for over a decade in various client-facing roles. I also have more than 3 years’ experience of working with young people at an intersectional therapy centre with a focus on trauma and attachment, and with adults with substance misuse concerns.
As a registered member of BACP I abide by their Ethical Framework and guidelines.
I charge £50 per 50 minute session.
